Terms Beginning with G

GATEWAY: Port of entry into a country or region.

GATT: General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, a multilateral treaty intended to help reduce trade barriers and promote tariff concessions.

GCR: General Cargo Rate. The basic tariff category that was introduced to cover most air cargo.

GENERAL AVERAGE: A deliberate loss or damage to goods in the face of a peril, which sacrifice is made for the preservation of the vessel and other goods. The owners of the saved goods share the cost of the loss.

GROSS WEIGHT: Entire weight of goods, packing and container, ready for shipment.

G.R.Wt./G.W.: Gross Weight

GSA: (General Sales Agent): A company acting on behalf of an airline who does not have a local office.
