DFAIT EXPORT PERMITS FOR CRYPTOGRAPHIC ITEMS UPDATED

The Export Control List (ECL) describes goods and technology that are subject to export controls. Exports of such items must be authorized by an export permit before they may be exported from Canada to any country (other than, with some exceptions, the United States). The FAQ document has been updated. More at this link.

CWTSA GENERAL RATE INCREASE OCTOBER 1
Container shipping lines in the Canada Westbound Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (CWTSA) have agreed that a General Rate Increase (GRI) will be implemented effective October 1, 2011. CWTSA carriers will adopt an across-the-board GRI in the following amounts:

Dry Cargo
From all Canadian Origins to all Asian Destinations within CWTSA
$160.00 per 20ft container
$200.00 per 40ft container

Refrigerated Cargo
From all Canadian Origins to all Asian Destinations within CWTSA
$240.00 per 20ft container
$300.00 per 40ft container

CWTSA is a discussion forum of major container shipping lines serving the trade from ports and inland points in Canada to destinations throughout Asia and the Indian Subcontinent (except India).


TSA CARRIERS ADD SINGAPORE DOC FEE, POSTPONE PSS
Carrier members of the Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (TSA) serving the East Asia/USA trade lane announced a Singapore Documentation Fee.

The group's new Singapore Documentation Fee of US$80 per bill of lading takes effect September 1, 2011. The initial effective date of the Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for 2011 has been postponed by most TSA Carrier members until August 15, 2011.

SCTSA AND CWTSA CURRENCY ADJUSTMENT FACTOR - OCTOBER 1, 2011
Major transpacific shipping lines of the Canada Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (CTSA), wish to advise their customers that effective October 1st, 2011, the Currency Adjustment Factor will be at the following level: 9% - Applicable from all origins including Japan and the PRC

The members will continue to monitor exchange rates and will notify their customers of any further adjustments. CTSA is a group of 10 ocean and intermodal transportation companies serving the trade from Asia to Canada.

Major transpacific shipping lines of the Canada Westbound Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (CWTSA), wish to advise their customers that effective October 1st, 2011 the Currency Adjustment Factor will be at the following levels:

Origin CAF: 13% - Applicable to all destinations including Japan and the PRC

The next review will occur at the end of November 2011 for effect January 1st, 2012. CWTSA is a group of 8 ocean and intermodal transportation companies serving the trade from Canada to Asia.


CBSA eMANIFEST PORTAL NOW AVAILABLE
The eManifest Portal is an option developed by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to allow the trade community to electronically transmit their pre-arrival information through the Internet.

The eManifest Portal was developed primarily for small- to medium-sized enterprises to facilitate their compliance and ease the transition from paper reporting to pre-arrival electronic data transmission. The eManifest Portal is currently available for highway carriers to transmit pre-arrival cargo and conveyance data. Full details at:
